Delhi gangrape: Victim continues to be stable, evidence sent for forensic examination

The Delhi gangrape victim continued to be in ICU at city's Safdarjung hospital on Thursday while the doctors attending her said she was stable. Raids were on in Haryana and Bihar in hunt of the sixth accused in the case and all the evidence collected by the Delhi Police from the bus - where the crime took place - and the clothes of the accused were sent for forensic examination. The victim had on Wednesday given a complete written statement to the police, explaining in detail what happened to her and her friend on the fateful night.
Meanwhile, a Delhi Police team, which visited Bihar on Wednesday in search of Akshay Thakur - one of the accused in the rape - questioned his father and brother. The five-member team visited Lahankarma village bordering Jharkhand and questioned Akshay's father and brother at the Tandwa police station, Acting Superintendent of Police Pranav Kumar said.
Kumar said Akshay's father Saryu Singh, a marginal farmer, and his younger brother Abhay who works in Delhi, were let off after questioning. The Delhi Police team accompanied by the Bihar police also spoke to villagers to secure information about Akshay. As per information, Akshay studied at the Tandwa school and had gone to Delhi in search of a job.
